LINDANadolny (Letters, July 24) is content to give up sovereignty, control of our borders, and anything else that her unelected masters in the EU ask of her, so she is obviously a loyal EU citizen! Clearly, she misunderstands my concept of ‘loyalty’.

At one time, Britain traded with the Commonwealth, and called on millions of people from across the globe to defend it when it was dragged into war with its near neighbours.

Indeed we are living in different times, as Britain has turned its back on the Commonwealth nations that stood by this country, and helped to make it a thriving economy in the recent past.

Some of us do not forget.

Ms Nadolny claims to be “living in the present”, but uses an old term from the cold war, “the balance of power”. If, as she asserts, the big players are the US, Russia and China, why aren’t we concentrating on trade with them, instead of the stagnating European Union?

Pouring £53 million per day into the black hole of the EU, with millions disappearing and unaccounted for every year, to the despair of its auditors, hardly chimes with “our nation’s best interests”.
