WITH reference to the closure of Woolston Senior School, I know that some people think opponents should shut up and accept the decision that Councillor Ann Milton has made, but as parents of children who attend the school we strongly disagree.

In light of the recent Ofsted report we would like to ask Cllr Milton to reconsider her decision. Woolston School has a higher level of education, as shown by the Ofsted report, the opposite can be said of Grove Park. Is this why Woolston is oversubscribed and Grove Park is undersubscribed? If Ofsted is impressed why isn't she?

Are the residents of Woolston and surrounding areas, aware that the Unigate Dairy site on Portsmouth Road was bought last year for easier access to Grove Park?

We were under the impression that no final decisions were to be made until March 2007.

We would like to remind residents that councillors are elected by us, the grandparents, parents, aunts and uncles of children who are currently, or will be attending this school. Perhaps the council needs to consider this when making the final decision.

Unfortunately for Woolston, we know of parents who are removing children from our school now, to ensure that they do not have to go to the new Grove Park school. By closing Woolston School, how is this going to improve Grove Park? What will our children gain? They are more than happy with the standards they already have.

If our children have to travel further, then we would rather send them to a school that has already obtained a good Ofsted report, rather than a school which will be starting from scratch.

All that is left to say is, "See you at the elections Cllr Milton!'' NAME AND ADDRESS SUPPLIED.
