ROMSEY MP Sandra Gidley has proposed in Parliament to stop competitive sport.
In sporting jargon this could be termed "left-winger scores spectacular own goal.'' She has already voted against hunting. Now she wants more people to give up their interest and enjoyment. Is this the real caring, sharing lady showing through?
Practically every known sport is participated in by members of her constituency - indoors and outdoors - throughout the year.
She has decided this should be discouraged. Is this her being liberal or democratic?
We know she is not a team player. Look how she turned against her leader and supporter Charles Kennedy. He was the most successful team player the Liberal Democrats have had since the Second World War. He selected her for his team but she showed she did not like being picked for the team. Maybe she found the responsibilty of being a team player hard to handle.
When they collate the best own goal for 2007 the winner will surely be Mrs Gidley.
