I DOUBT if my daughter will ever be able to claim as a carer for one of her children who suffers a delay response, because it will affect the income her husband earns.
After 30 years of marriage, I was unable to claim any of my former husband's pension or income and I had no option except buy the house I live in and claim state benefits.
These are unsatisfactory aspects of the welfare state.
There is no real medical, social or financial assistance to help me live comfortably in this country. Better help goes to council tenants, so they have more money to spend.
It appears pensions for women have never kept abreast of the need.
RUTH A OLDEN, Hythe.
