HOW I agree with Suzie Usher about the litterbugs in Southampton. I was very ashamed when a couple from Australia who I met in Germany said out of all the places they had travelled to in the world, Southampton was “the dirtiest and untidiest”.

We used to have a clean town which was admired by visitors, now we have crisp packets, chocolate wrappers, food containers, plastic cups and bottles, and masses of cigarette ends, all discarded by lazy ignorant people, with no pride in their city.
