THE exploitation of car parking at Lepe beach has spoilt it.
Yet the council won’t clear the way for a bus where it is the only beach accessible by bus pass but the council won’t stop large foreign coaches parking free there.
I feel a double-decker bus service from Southampton ought not be given the go ahead, as Calshot is not really a beach, and has not got a Sunday bus service for beach units anyhow.
A greater swindle is the bus pass losing all its value, cutting bus services to the quick, except in town.
Hampshire County Council appears to have the cash for a rail service provision after all.
You wonder who would benefit.
RUTH A OLDEN, Hythe.
Editor's note: As explained in reply to a previous letter from this contributor, there is already a bus service that runs from Southampton to Blackfield and Langley, which are near Lepe Beach. This service (Bluestar 9) which also stops at Hythe, runs three times an hour Monday to Saturday and once an hour on Sunday.
