IT IS disgraceful that the Government is meddling with our holidays.
Over 20 years ago I embarked on three years of nurse training. I had set holidays and none of these fell within the school holidays.
I had three boys aged six, seven and nine. If my children had been banned from taking holidays in term-time, they would not have had a holiday for three years!
Holidays are educational, and no child suffers from a week or two out of school. They could be away sick for that time. The Government wants to rule our lives! My boys’ education did not suffer, quite the opposite. One is a doctor, one works in IT and the other is a solicitor.
The Government should let parents decide what is best for their children and go back to the old way of allowing up to ten days holiday in term-time.
