SO here we go, the 2014 local election campaign is about to begin; the likelihood is even though you may not be that satisfied thinking they are all the same you have already made up your mind?
Most people will have allegiances to one of the main political parties, which is reasonable and understandable; consistency feels safe, a sense of order and dependability.
The main political line-ups take full advantage of that, they depend on your sincerity and reliability knowing full well that a couple of false promises to make them look different from each other before the elections will all be forgiven once the dust has settled and the election is once again over.
They know your overwhelming feeling of commitment to your particular political allegiance will once again kick in and the likelihood is they will be forgiven.
What about that other emerging lot. Well history shows right wing racism pretending to be a respectable political party can not never ever be the answer no matter how desperate people are looking for another option?
So what is one to do – “they are all the same?”
Not to vote should never be considered though it is understandable why one would incorrectly come to that conclusion.
Well there is an alternative.
When you are in the polling booth on May 22 pencil in hand looking down the list of candidates and when you see someone standing up for you, your neighbours and the area you live in, with a commitment not to cut jobs and services, then maybe you should consider this time around that’s where one’s cross should go?
