HAVING read the article Don't Fly in The Face of Progress (In my View, December 28), I fail to see how Jan Browne's service in the aviation industry many years ago can relate to Southampton Airport today?
If some houses were built before the airport, how could occupants be aware that a grass field would become a busy international airport?
I imagine that most residents living under and directly under the flight path (I do not) bought their homes before the noisy Flybe jets became a problem.
Some people don't mind, but those who do should not be referred to as whingers and moaners, or expected to continue without any consideration.
Cheap flights enable more people to take to the air, which is understandable and and more convenient than travelling on over-crowded, congested roads.
At the same time, it is an unequal equation, but obviously profit and pleasure have priority, or should I say progress?
