HOW long is Southern Health NHS Trust going to shirk the blame and responsibility for the increasing amount of people suffering mental health problems and committing suicide, and their sheer lack of care?
I speak from being a service user and having witnessed this first hand.
The mental health system in Southampton (I can’t speak for the rest of the country) is a complete joke!
I’m so sick of hearing after someone’s committed suicide and there’s obviously been a coroner’s inquest and that the Trust has “learned lessons”.
That’s exactly what they are NOT doing.
They report that the individual concerned “was known to be mentally ill” as if well, that’s OK then, they were always going to die anyway. “Nothing we could do.”
But with help, understanding, time, medication and support a lot can be done to help people feel better and function in daily life.
SALLY PAUL, Southampton.
