A NEW Forest Pony or a Hamble Airfield Horse? If I was a horse, I think I know what I’d rather be! A New Forest pony every time.
Yesterday I was lucky enough to spend spent some time walking in the New Forest on a fine day with my young grandchild. Although not without dangers, like speeding traffic, the Forest ponies’ lives cannot be compared with those who endure tethering where so many natural instincts are denied.
The New Forest ponies were all in fine condition. They were glossy and well nourished and socialising together. They will be far better prepared to survive a harsh winter than their tethered relations in places like Hamble Airfield.
Sadly this place is just one of many, many nationwide. We need prompt government action in England, like Wales has taken, to ban tethering and antisocial fly grazing. Please support World Horse Welfare, the RSPCA and other equine welfare organisations who are campaigning for these long overdue changes in the law.
