I read with interest the article in the Daily Echo (January 5) entitled Medal Honour From Twin Town.
While I am sure Gordon Cox deserves the honour bestowed on him by Dr Rommelfanger Oberburgermeister of Kornwestheim I would like to add my comment.
As a 13-year-old I accompanied my father Alderman RAL Lofting to Villeneuve St Georges for the signing of the twining agreement between that town and Eastleigh.
Mr Cox was indeed a part of the company but he was there only as an interpreter. In fact he was my school French teacher.
So I am not sure what influence Dr Rommelfanger thinks he had; he was there to interpret the views of others not to give his own.
I cannot speak for the town of Kornwestheim but would like to put this record straight.
PATRICIA PLUDEK-LOFTING.
