I AM not sure that this is of any help to Harold Moore (A Soldier Son’s search for pictures to complete book, Letters, August 21) but I was a patient at Netley Hospital in 1951 was treated in the hospital behind the main hospital block as this main block was only administration offices.
I was led to believe that the hospital at the back had been erected by the Americans for their personnel and when they vacated it the British Army took it over.
I was at Christchurch and left the Army and the area in 1953 and came back to Eastleigh with Vickers in 1978. I had read about the hospital demolition but no more.
Mr Moore may have to go to America for further information.
