AS the future of Scotland is soon to be decided by referendum, it is a pity that a small number of campaigners, mainly from the Yes campaign, have decided to harass and abuse those who have had the temerity to oppose them.

Nationalist leaders including Alex Salmond should have been more prompt in repudiating their actions.

With declining North Sea oil revenues, would the Scots not find it more viable to stay within the UK?

The Scots as explorers and inventors have made a great contribution to the vibrancy of the United Kingdom.

The Scottish Parliament could be given some extra powers and it has proved to be a success.

It would be interesting to hear what other readers think on this important issue.

Secondly, is it not now time that Councillor Ian Carr stood down as leader of Test Valley Borough Council after so many years in office?

There are dangers when anybody is in power for so long. Some of his colleagues privately admit this.

When will they actually speak out?
