I SEE the ‘Not in my New Forest’ (NIMNFs) have a new champion or should it be “Chumpion”?
The NIMNF’s should remember it is a national park for the use of the nation, and not a personal allotment for their own enjoyment.
The cycling events happen on few occasions, and the accidents caused are minimal, compared to the accidents caused by vehicle drivers, a good percentage of which are forest dwellers, during the rest of the year.
Dr Julian Lewis is of the opinion that this is a relatively new situation, but in fact it has been going on much longer than the recent months he quotes.
The NIMNF’s have already put the mockers on the cycle hire scheme, for no other reason than it might encroach on their enjoyment, totally disregarding how it would improve the enjoyment attained by visitors.
Numbering each cyclist during an event is almost laughable, try identifying the vehicles that totally ignore the speed limits in the New Forest, causing the death of animals and injuring members of the public.
Come on NIMNF’s, join the rest of the nation, get on your bikes and enjoy what has been bequeathed to the nation.
