MANY potholes and uneven surfaces are the result of the road being dug up and the surface being replaced badly.
Can I suggest that when a company has dug up a road and repaired it, they then have to cycle over it (on a cheap bike without suspension) to check it is smooth enough.
Then a few weeks later they have to go back and cycle over it again, to check it hasn’t sagged, and make it smooth if it needs it.
I have offered my councillors to cycle all my weekly routes with me, in order to see just how few stretches of road are smooth and lovely to cycle on.
Hopefully the councillors will agree that smoother roads equals more pleasant cycling equals more cyclists equals less pollution equals better for all of us, so worth a little investment.
