I WONDER what born and bred Londoner Alex Wright (Letters, January 20) would say about the laser display in his hometown, or at Greenwich Observatory?
Perhaps it would be useful for the council to obtain and publish in the Daily Echo a full report from Greenwich, which would help us to understand the full implications of the laser display.
A small positive paragraph on the subject printed two or three weeks ago has obviously been missed by many readers. A further report might set many minds at rest.
There is bound to be a degree of scepticism about anything now. Compare France's initial reaction to their now beloved Eiffel Tower.
I really feel we have to give this a go, even if we shorten the beam a little to give due respect to the New Forest National Park on our doorstep.
I think this really could be "it" this time, visit the prestigious art gallery, experience the new exhibition in the old magistrates courts, have a good meal at any of the city's excellent restaurants, then wonder out to see the lights - wow!
What a treat for locals and visitors alike, and not to mention walking the walls, towing the medieval vaults and drinking tea in Tudor House! I can't wait!
