I WAS delighted that someone at the council made the decision to provide us with an ice rink.
It was tiny but it was cute. It was ice and it was nice. You can clamour for glamour but I prefer sweet and simple.
I want to thank those who helped to provide the fun that nature once provided before we messed up the environment and the weather.
I'm in no doubt it took a massive focus of energy and enthusiasm to bring this rink to the centre of Southampton.
Our young people can't be destined to Walk the Walls forever. They need variety and challenge.
If we want a larger, fancier rink like the one they had in Bristol with its free this and free that we would have to pay for it.
This was a first effort and if people were, for once, to say how great it was have this facility, however small, maybe the council would be encouraged in their efforts.
RUTH HAZLITT, Lordshill, Southampton.
