WE took our two grandsons to Old Winchester Hill on Sunday, to visit the Bronze Age fort - a beautiful day and a wonderful walk.
The boys were mesmerised by the sight of wild rabbits and pheasants, and amazed at how small they all looked from our position on top of the hill.
Our day was almost ruined by a very thoughtless dog owner, who chose to ignore the signposts asking that all dogs remain on a lead so as not to disturb the wildlife and sheep.
Their dog was not on a lead and therefore gave chase to the birds and rabbits.
Thankfully none were injured, however they were scared and were making a lot of noise.
Our two young lads were so upset by what they had witnessed, and questioned why an adult would break the law.
Please respect our countryside laws and keep your dogs on leads when out walking. We have three dogs and take them out on retractable leads, giving them a bit of freedom but also under our control as not everyone wants a dog running around on the loose.
This was the only dog that we saw during our visit not on a lead.
To the owner, we hope you enjoyed your visit and the next time you will heed the signs.
