WITH the proposal that Southampton should have another cruise terminal, with a consequent increase in visitors, it is surely more urgent than ever to do something to improve our dismal waterfront.
Mayflower Park is dire; the former Ocean Village site offers only a narrow walkway, the Town Quay a car park. There is need for a focal point of interest and attraction. While it may not be feasible to produce something like Portsmouth's amazing Spinnaker Tower, a new pier springs to mind. I wonder how many Southampton residents would agree.
