LINDEN Homes believes it has "the ability to provide a holistic solution for Totton town'' - the development of BAT's sports field.
On the eight acre site approximately 100 homes would be built, allowing space for a reduced size cricket pitch and a small clubhouse, but losing tennis courts, football pitch, basketball, squash and badminton facilities. The loss of these would deprive local schools and clubs the use of the green space.
The membership response would suggest that the club should remain at its present capacity, without Linden Homes' "ability to provide a holistic solution for Totton town''.
The development of the sports ground would create unbearable road and traffic chaos in and around Southern Gardens and Ringwood Road, leading into Totton and meeting up with traffic queues which tailback from the Esso roundabout when the level crossing gates are closed.
The Abbotswood School parking spaces at BAT would no longer be available, causing yet more chaos and danger in the area - and no lollipop patrol crossing person!
The proposed 100 homes on the site and the increase in population and cars would have a dire effect on the community and is unacceptable.
The taking of a green site is unacceptable - but will it be acceptable to the powers that be?
