A NEW report says that only in Scotland can key workers afford to buy a home. SNP leader Alex Salmond claims that an independent Scotland would flourish. Maybe.
There is no doubt that the south of England (let's call it Wessex) would lean forward if it was not held back by the burden of subsidising the rest of England, and Scotland, etc.
A Wessex parliament would have to do something about providing affordable housing for Wessexers, while not covering Wessex with urban sprawl.
