AS a former resident of Southampton, I felt I had to write to congratulate the city council on the Titanic commemorations, culminating in the very moving ceremony on Sunday.
The many wreaths show that the victims were not forgotten; however, I was disgusted at the British Titanic Society, who were in attendance, who did not provide any form of tribute.
Many people in Southampton must be sick of the Titanic, but research is always on going.
There are hundreds of depositions made by crew members when they arrived back in England, not to mention photographs of the ship, but sadly these are missing. They may turn up in someone's attic, hopefully.
DR PAUL LEE, Cambourne, Cambridgeshire.
A spokesman for the British Titanic Society said they had no involvement with Sunday's ceremony and were not officially represented.
