I WAS interested to read the article in the Daily Echo about single parents and the responsibility they have.
The father of my nine-month-old grandson has recently dumped him. He sent a 10p text message saying that our daughter lacked compassion.
I wonder if he knows what compassion means. Where was his compassion? Does he not feel for my daughter being left to bring up his child alone?
He then sent another gutless text message saying that the baby's other nan would no longer be seeing him.
That's lack of compassion.
The father came into the baby's life when he was five months old, after months of denying that he was the parent.
We are grateful that they split while the baby is too young to know who he was.
A child is for life, not to be dumped like a broken toy.
Anyone can be a dad but it takes a caring, loving person to be a father.
Don't put a single parent down. There are some caring people who want and care for their children. But absent parents who boast that they got away with it without cost and never feel guilty should be tagged and made to pay.
We will give our grandson double the love.
LOVING NAN, Southampton. (name and address supplied).
