I WAS absolutely outraged by the letter regarding Sad Hythe (April 16). I have lived in Hythe, having been born here, since 1960, and I wonder when Henry Tenant, who wrote the letter, last visited the town.
Hythe is a very beautiful and pretty place, and is always kept to a very high standard, particularly in summer when the High Street is adorned with lovely hanging baskets.
Mr Tenant mentions many shops in the precinct being empty. There are a couple, I admit, but the tone of the letter makes it sound like a ghetto.
Many people who have visited Hythe have all stated what a lovely village it is, and I am very proud to say that I live in the area.
There is nothing nicer than walking around the village, winter or summer, and strolling along the new promenade, having a browse around the shops and then having lunch on the marina.
