I WAS incensed by Henry Tenant's letter. I wonder if he has visited the wonderful new waterfront walk, with clear views of Southamp-ton and the numerous cruise liners.
Has he strolled to the end of the pier and seen the ongoing improvements for ferry passengers?
Has he visited Hythe during the Summer Arts Festival or on a farmers' market day?
Has he watched the delighted children enjoying their new playground?
Yes, a few small shops have been forced to close, as shoppers flock to malls, outlets and larger towns.
This is sadly a nationwide trend. But the ones that remain in Hythe have the most friendliest, welcoming and helpful of staff.
Hythe is far from sad. It is a fun, relaxing place to live and loved by many.
All shops thrive on customers and I sincerely hope visitors will not be put off by his sad criticism.
BERYL WYTHERS, Hythe.
