MANY Totton residents will agree with the writer of New Homes Will Increase Traffic (Letters, April 19) and his fears regarding the safety of children at nearby schools if Linden Homes were allowed to build 100 homes on the former BAT sports ground off Ringwood Road.
Unfortunately this is only part of the developer's proposals!
A further 100 homes would be built on the present Totton Football Club ground off Testwood Lane (with the agreement of the club), whose finances would benefit considerably.
Nor is that the whole story, for a new football ground with all facilities including two new pitches, stands, bar and clubhouse and large car park is proposed to be created on land next to Little Testwood Farm.
This site will not only overload the already busy A36 Salisbury Road whenever matches are played, but is also in a position where harm will be rendered to the Testwood Lakes bird and wildlife sanctuary, which is so beloved by fishermen and nature lovers.
Many schoolchildren, both local and from other areas have learned to appreciate wildlife here.
The message to Linden Homes is keep out!
