I RECEIVED a penalty charge notice for parking longer than the two hour maximum period in the Woolston car and lorry park.
I'm guilty as charged but would like to ask an obvious question. Would it be possible for the maximium parking time be lengthened from the current two hours to four hours on a Saturday so that visitors to the city could park there, go and watch Saints, come back to their cars and drive away?
My reason for asking is this, if the council enforces the current duration it means that around 100 vehicles will be forced to park elsewhere.
I don't want to park outside someone's house, nor do I want to clog up Woolston on match days.
If cars and lorries were competing for the same car park, I could well understand the need to enforce a time restriction.
The fact is that all cars who park there on a Saturday afternoon on match days are there to watch Saints.
We all arrive about 2pm and we all disappear by about 5.30pm.
