THE Campaign for an English Parliament has commissioned a survey (details to be found at www.thecep.org.uk) conducted by ICM Research asking the following question: "You may have seen or heard that a separate Scottish parliament, a Welsh assembly and a Northern Ireland Assembly have been established. Do you think that England should or should not have its own parliament or assembly?'' Sixty seven per cent said yes, England should have its own parliament. In every part of England, the number saying yes was above 65 per cent! Other surveys including one conducted by the BBC have given similar results.
The referendum which led to the Welsh Assembly had only a 51 per cent yes vote!
Scotland and Wales have both had referenda. When will it be England's turn?
