I HAVE been issued with a penalty charge notice for parking my car in Beacon Bottom, around the corner to where I live.

My girlfriend and I live in a lovely old terrace property on the busy Botley Road in Park Gate and we have no allocated residents' parking.

This is a problem that we have persistently raised with Fareham Borough Council who fob us off and then try to make even more money from us by fining us.

I am fed-up. I don't want to park my car directly outside my property on the busy A-road because there have been at least four accidents since we have been living here, two resulting in written-off parked cars.

My car is my pride and joy and as it is it has been scuffed by parking it on the road. Are Fareham Council going to reimburse me for the damage?

We cannot park in the Village Inn pub car park any more because it is under new ownership, and quite rightly the new owners don't want our cars cluttering up their car park.

So what is the council going to do for us?

Yet again our council tax has risen and what service are we getting for it?

You expect traffic wardens in towns and city centres but it is going too far when they are found in outlying areas like Park Gate.

Hasn't the council got better things to do than attack the poor motorist?

TIM SAUNDERS, Park Gate.
