THE problem with recycling starts at supermarkets and their suppliers.

Yogurts, butter, margarine, ice cream are often supplied in plastic containers and if your council does not or will not collect these for recycling what are we to do with them?

Supermarkets need to put pressure on their suppliers to make packaging more recyclable for these items and/or by using paper bags rather than plastic for loose produce they could also charge for carrier bags.

Councils could also do more. These products cannot be put in a green bin, so if I want to recycle them, I need to drive to the nearest recycling tip.

Also, why do people pick on 4x4s , so-called gas guzzlers? Government led no doubt. Surely Rolls Royces, Bentleys, Ferraris and some Volvos who only do 20mpg are worse gas guzzlers. There is no mention of these though.

Surely the answer is to make people pay as they drive. A simple answer is to abolish the road fund licence and put it on the price of fuel. Nothing else need be done because you are paying as you drive (no more tax dodgers).
