FOLLOWING the previous letters regarding noise from fireworks, I, too, wish that the event organisers would find a less intrusive way to mark the occasion of a cruise ship naming or departure.

Since the millennium celebrations, the increasingly frequent use of fireworks has become a nuisance.

There must be a more imaginative way end an event without causing such a disturbance.

Our city council's response to the first letter was unsatisfactory and only highlights criticism that the council upholds the interests of business in preference to those of its residents.
