COUNCILLOR Keith House states we (allotment holders) continue to oppose building more homes for those in need.
Allotment holders do not oppose building of homes at all. What is opposed is building them on allotment sites (classed as greenfield sites by government).
These are green lungs in the town where there is an abundance of wildlife and much needed as most of the new homes have small gardens - there is now an increased demand for allotments.
Houses should be built on brownfield sites and where there are no existing conflicts of interest. W hat people should know is that some of the new sites are next to the M3 with air pollution and noise pollution (constantly in excess of 75 decibels).
BARRY BUNCE (an allotment holder).
