Epilepsy Action is inviting people in the area to log onto an online advice forum to discuss issues surrounding epilepsy and employment. The forum will take place every morning on weekdays (Monday to Friday) during National Epilepsy Week (May 20-26 May).
The online forum is open to anyone wishing to ask questions and discuss issues relating to epilepsy in the workplace. Whether you are an employee or employer needing to discuss workplace issues surrounding epilepsy, or just seeking information about epilepsy in general, our trained advisers will be available to answer your questions live via the Epilepsy Action website.
Epilepsy affects one in every 131 people in the UK. Many of those living with the condition feel that they are discriminated against when they are looking for employment, and by bosses and colleagues within the workplace.
A lot of employers and employees fear the consequences of someone having a seizure at work. However, people with epilepsy have a huge amount to offer in the workplace. If a person's seizures are uncontrolled, a few minor adjustments can often enable them to achieve within the workplace and fulfil their potential.
Please log on and join us in discussing these important issues.
The advice forum will be open from Monday-Friday, 9.00am-12.00pm at www.epilepsy.org.uk/liveadvice.
MONICA COOPER, epilepsy services manager.
