THERE are many commemorations marking the 25th anniversary of the Falklands War, when ships left the Solent to try to expel the Argentinian invaders.
This was accomplished, but the threat to the islanders has never gone away. They are almost entirely British and fortified since the war by more British immigrants.
To preserve their freedom and so that lives lost will not have been in vain, we can help support the islanders' wishes to keep the Falklands British. The Falklands Islands Association is a support charity run from Falklands House, 14 Broadway, London SW1H 0BA and it sends a regular, illustrated magazine to members (subscriptions £15 or £5 retired p.a.).
A strong membership here gives our governments the message that the Falklands must be kept British, and to the possible aggressor, that the islanders are backed to the hilt!
