I FULLY support the stand taken by the Daily Echo's editor, Ian Murray, in attacking those MPs who seek to exempt themselves from the freedom of information laws. Will similar exemptions apply to local councillors?
The electorate are entitled to enquire and receive information regarding MPs' and councillors' expenses and other sources of income. What MPs are entitled to protect is information received from constituents by way of discussion or correspondence.
Perhaps our local MPs and city councillors could comment for or against the Parliamentary Bill - and should similar provisions be accorded to councillors?
