IN response to a number of inquiries being made to our office and to our bus drivers, could I let readers know that the new yellow City Clipper bus service in Southampton does accept free and concessionary passes.
Either Southampton's, or any of those issued by any local authority within Hampshire are accepted, but not those issued by Portsmouth, as it is a separate unitary authority.
We hope that this facility will prove very helpful to anyone travelling into Southampton by public transport. From 2008, a national free travel scheme for the over 60s will be introduced, and pass holders should be able to travel anywhere in England for free.
We also sell and accept Solent Travelcard tickets.
Our brand new City Clipper buses are all easy-access vehicles, have a wheelchair space, and full air-conditioning.
We are locally owned and run in Southampton, and we look forward to welcoming you soon.
NIGEL BARNES-EVANS, City Clipper.
