WHY is it being suggested that David Cameron is the natural person to follow on from Tony Blair? That is, the Blair/Brown administration has been a total disaster. Why would anyone want to copy Blair?
We, the public, keep on being told how clever Labour have been over the past ten years with Tony Blair being compared with Margaret Thatcher! For heaven's sake, Mrs Thatcher was the person who created massive inflation, high interest rates, boom and bust and a lot more. She and her team were not good for this country, therefore nor was Blair or will be Cameron.
I won't include Brown in this sequence as nobody wants him as Prime Minster and the sooner we have a general election the better.
Surely every single person in this country, living everyday lives has had their security, lifestyles and jobs interfered with because this Government teats us all as if we are all criminals.
Almost daily we are confronted with cover-ups presented by MPs for their mistakes which you have paid for through taxation.
The Government does have the habit of saying, "We have spent millions of pounds on...(whatever)". That is not correct, you have paid for it, not them.
You have also paid for all their wasted expenditure.
No wonder Alex Salmond talks of independence for Scotland, which I am not in favour of, but you can understand his thinking as Westminster can be an embarrassment, not only here but as seen from aboard.
The only major party which talks some sense are the Liberal Democrats and Menzies Campbell is a gentleman' and I doubt very much he would lie to us on television, in the newspapers or arrange cover-ups.
Paddy Ashdown gave the rebirth to the Liberals and Charles Kennedy attracted far more support and increased the number of MPs because he came across as being genuine and was the voice to those of us who want common sense to issues which affect all of us. Not just here, but throughout Europe and the world.
Charles was under pressure to perform and we all go through that phase and we get too tired and needed a break.
Liberal Democrats with Menzies, Chris Huhne, Nick Clegg, Charles and all the other MPs ought to be given your support (no matter who the leader is) and it will not surprise anyone if there is a change soon.
Do you really want more of the same, ie Thatcher, Blair and Cameron?
If you do, more and more Brits will leave this country as will businesses, for the euro zone and beyond.
RICHARD GRANT, Burley.
