CHITTY Chitty Bang Bang (a children's show) is currently playing at The Mayflower. However, The Mayflower has done little to help with the cost of taking children to see the show.
I tried to book tickets online for an evening performance, as on a previous occassion, tickets were only reduced in the evenings for children. There were no concessions available.
I contacted the Mayflower only to be told that tickets were reduced Monday to Friday evening performances at the rate of half price for one child under 12 with one full paying adult adult in the rear circle only. This offer isn't available online.
The cost makes the show prohibitive for many people.
My daughter and I wished to take my grandchildren to see the show but this has bumped up the price considerably.
Instead of three adults and two children, it is now four adults and one child. Since when have school children under the age of 16 been classed as adults?
A friend who is a single parent had been saving to take her children to see the show. She cannot now do it because she has three children and she can only take one at half price.
Three upset children and a mother who has had to break a promise to the children.
While I can appreciate that it costs a lot to put on such a wonderful production (I know because I have already seen it), The Mayflower are discriminating against the very people the show is actually aimed for.
Well done Mayflower!
