IN answer to Alex Winning (letters, June 6) I really don't believe putting more bins on the streets is the answer. I have seen adults throw litter on the streets/pavements right next to the bins! Whether they aimed for the bin and missed, is anyone's guess!
Even worse, I have seen and heard adults say to their children just drop it on the street!' Not only on the streets/pavements, but on buses and trains as well.
I also believe that the idea of manufacturers being responsible for the mess is ridiculous and ludicrous. When my husband was smoking he'd come home with a pocket full of dead matches and butt ends rather than throw them on the streets!
So, Alex, I think the answer is to educate the adult! What some of their homes must be like? I shudder to think!
