WITHIN Paul Eddy's exclusive chat to Lydia Playfoot (Focus on Faith, June 30) and diary of media events surrounding the story, why was there no mention of the facts that; The UK branch of the Silver Ring Thing is based at the Kings Church in Horsham where Ms Playfoot's father, Phil, is pastor?
Her mother, Heather, is the company secretary of its business arm and that the Kings Church runs a training programme called The Silver Ring Thing 434?
I respect everyone's right to express their religious/political beliefs as they see fit. Of course one might expect some antagonism from society for certain kinds of expression.
What worries me though is that the Silver Ring Thing possibly smacks of a good old fashioned publicity stunt, for an organisation selling jewellery. I do hope this is not the case though.
Lastly can I mention that should little silver rings become part of a fad, more preceious metal mining will be required, something that has already led to environmental destruction in some parts of the world. Printed T-shirts can be a good way of getting important messages across to friends.
Let's hope the High Court can adequately judge how important silver rings are to individuals!
