In Sydney, Australia, visitors can walk right up to the liner and many restaurants overlook the magnificent spectacle of the QE2 framed by Sydney Bridge and the Opera House.
Passengers disembarking at Southampton are herded into a cow shed-like building decorated with a few strings of old flags.
