I READ with disgust (Daily Echo, July 2) that Gordon Ramsey has bought a farm near Romsey and hopes to include crocodiles in the animals he rears for human consumption. I certainly hope he does not get a permit for this under the Dangerous Wild Animals Act.
I would urge all readers to protest against this, as I believe it is totally unnecessary and cruel. There are enough animals farmed for meat in this country without adding crocodiles to the food chain.
Crocodiles are not native to this country and it would cause them great distress to keep them in unnatural and confined conditions.
Finally, how can they be killed humanely?
