I AM grateful to Mr Pentland, the spokesman for Yellow Pages (Letters, July 7) for making it clear that the directories can be recycled, even here, in the New Forest.
I will now turn my attention to the Conservative portfolio holder for the environment on the New Forest District Council. Why is he spending taxpayers' money on printing and distributing leaflets that tell householders that the directories cannot be recycled because of the yellow dye?
It seems to me that the public would be a lot less confused if the directories were accepted in the paper kerbside collection scheme. The same might be said with regard to Christmas gift wrapping paper and shredded paper. One day, it's not welcome, the next it isn't, then it is again. Is this Tory bred confusion really helping the public recycle?
COUNCILLOR DAVID HARRISON, New Forest Liberal Democrats.
