IN the past the Southampton Actionnaires, a local sports club for visually impaired children run by Action for Blind People, has always enjoyed fantastic support from Daily Echo readers.
To raise money for the Actionnaires, the Hilton in the Community Foundation is challenging local people to travel the circumference of the earth in a sponsored event called Around the World in a Day.
On Saturday, September 15, one-mile courses will be laid out in Hilton Hotel grounds all over the UK and Ireland.
We are asking people to complete as many miles as possible to raise money for the Actionnaires. Alternatively, people can form teams of four and clock up as many miles as possible in eight hours, on treadmills, spinning and rowing machines in the foyer of their local Hilton Hotel.
Every mile will count towards the combined target distance of 24,902 miles - the circumference of the earth.
With the support of your readers, we can continue to give blind and partially sighted kids from Southampton the chance to play sport. Celebrity fitness guru, Lady Isabella Hervey, is supporting the campaign. To find out more visit www.hilton-foundation.org.uk or call 020 7920 7733.
