A BONFIRE burned in Monks Walk, Dibden Purlieu, from 9am to almost 9pm on July 14. This was one of the few hot and sunny days so far this summer and yet they chose to have a smoky and smelly bonfire with complete disregard for neighbours.
The wind took the smoke down Heatherstone Avenue and beyond into Butts Ash, yet at least two requests for the bonfire to be extinguished were ignored. We were prevented from using our gardens for the whole day and had to keep all doors and windows closed.
New Forest Council provides a garden rubbish collection scheme, compost bins are available for £10 from www.recyclenow.com and you can dispose of garden waste at Marchwood. There is no need to add pollution to the air by having a bonfire. Please be more considerate in future and think before you stink!
