HOW I agree with the comments about Radio Solent recently published in the Daily Echo.
We have now had a few months since that ageist memo from the station manager, and what has happened to our once-loved local radio station ?
Out have gone the tried and tested broadcasters and programmes, and we are left with what? That irritating Julian Clegg who loves the sound of his own voice, having his name mentioned every ten seconds, and who interrupts everyone else constantly, including the callers.
The much-loved Sunday morning bit of fun has gone replaced by...well, words fail me.
Sally Taylor might be good on TV's South Today, but her show does not hold up on radio, too many of her friends being promoted, and the odd, not very good live music.
If the station manager is measured on listener figures, she should be packing her bags. She single-handedly has ruined what was once a very good local radio station.
Why is change never for the better, and why do we look forward to the stand-in presenters covering holiday absences by the original presenters? It makes you think, and the station manager should particularly!
JOHN LATIMER, Hedge End.
