AM I missing something? The long-running saga of the Southampton travellers' site has resulted in a victory for the travellers at the expense of the local residents.
My question is, why do we need a site especially for travellers?
I looked at the www.caravancampingsites.co.uk/hampshire and see there are already well over 1,000 pitches available across Hampshire.
As travellers tow their home behind them, the same as the many caravaners do, only for longer, then why can''t they use the sites already available?
This would also give income to the existing sites during the times of year when they would otherwise be empty.
The travellers would also benefit from the many facilities available at these existing sites as opposed to using a field or car park somewhere. Obvious really, isn't it?
