THE shelter we have on the green, in Somerset Avenue, Harefield, was a short while ago, painted and repaired. Sadly it is now back to its vandalised state!
While the graffiti may be an eyesore, it does little harm. But the question is what makes these young people damage the walls and best part of the roof?
It was built so that they could sit and talk, and be protected from the weather.
This self-destruct mentality is quite a problem.
We also have a bus shelter in Cheriton Avenue, with six seats, where youngsters could sit and talk, but sadly two of the seats have now been destroyed.
Whatever makes the young do this? We can see this vandalism on road seats, park benches, precinct shelters, sports fields, children's playgrounds etc, I could go on.
I do feel that as a society, we should stop, and try to find an answer to this problem of senseless vandalism.
Why do they destroy the very thing that is put there for their convenience?
