WHAT are the police doing about the theft of bikes in Hedge End?
My 12-year-old was a victim last half-term. He was with his friend in Westward Road and was threatened by two youths. The bike they took was his Christmas present.
One of the youths gave my son the bike he was riding.
We went to the police station to report it and found out that about the same time another child had his bike and mobile phone taken nearby.
I asked the police if we could keep the bike but later was told this was stolen.
I later received a call to say that the incicent was closed.
I thought this was the end of this saga, but last week I later discovered that my son's old bike had been stolen from our home overnight.
I went to the police station to report it and was told "I'm not suprised as two bikes were stolen from Yardley Road in the early hours''.
What are the police doing about this?
My son, who was so frightened to go out after being threatened, has only now got his confidence back to go out again, he is now frightened in his own home, and so am I.
Do the police not patrol our streets at night? If they did I'm sure they would think it strange that 14 or 15 year olds are out in the early hours.
A VERY ANGRY PARENT (name and address supplied).
